NEW Online Résumé

As I mentioned in the Introduction, I am a highly accomplished therapist, with many years of especially diverse professional experiences. I spent several years in the USAF, working as a clinical social worker. I excelled in a variety of treatment settings. Specifically, I was a clinical provider and treatment team leader on an inpatient psychiatric unit. I also gained experience working as a clinical provider on the Air Force's largest inpatient alcohol rehabilitation center. I have been the Director of Family Advocacy (which is a military program designed to treat and stop child and spousal neglect and abuse). In addition, I have worked with families who have a disabled family member, as an outpatient mental health clinician, as a hostage negotiator consultant, as the program manager for a base wide suicide prevention program, as an outpatient substance abuse diagnostic evaluator, and have worked as a clinical adviser for an outpatient smoking cessation program. I am certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and was listed as an Emergency Responder while in the USAF. I am also an approved clinical supervisor in the state of Texas. I consider the following my specialties:

  • Depressive Disorders
  • Forensic Evaluations
  • Grief/Bereavement

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest Texas State University, a Master of Science of degree from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The University of Texas at Austin. My dissertation research was innovative for not only the profession of social work, but for all professions. Specifically, I developed a way to measure a mental health clinician's ethical competence. Because of my groundbreaking work, I am one of the foremost experts in the area of ethics and ethical competence.

I also hold numerous, prestigious credentials, such as the Diplomate rating from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and board certification in Domestic Violence. In addition, I possess a Diplomate rating in Clinical Social Work from The National Association of Social Workers

The Diplomate certification is a special recognition bestowed upon individuals who are qualified to practice within a specialty by virtue of advanced training and experience in the specialty area itself, and, who have also passed an intensive examination given by a national board of senior specialists who serve as examiners. You can verify these advanced credentials by clicking on their respective links and visiting their site(s).

Lastly, you can contact The Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners to verify my licensure status.
